My first knitting project:)

A couple of months ago, a friend, Maggie, asked the DW WaGs (Dirty Water Wives and Girlfriends for those of you who don't know) if anyone was interested in doing a 'crafty evening' one night a week, and a few of us said yes. So a little group was formed. The first night I took a drawer full of my scrap booking stuff as I had collected photos and decorating stuff, I just hadn't sat down and put it together. I was amazed at how long it takes just sticking the photos in!

As Maggie is a very good knitter, she volunteered to teach those that wanted, how to knit. I can tell you it was quite fun watching these ladies concentrating so hard on making sure the kneedles were moving the right way and learning which way to move the yarn.

So the next time we met up I thought i'd give kntting a go too. It's probably been somewhere around 20 years since I last did some knitting, I was surprised at how quickly I picked it up again. Thanks Maggie! So I decided my first project would be to make a small travel/ pram blanket. I even designed how it would look!! I did have to write out what I had to do on each row and then tick it as I went. I did make a few mistakes, but due to the colour of the yarn, I don't think you can notice it too much:)

I wasn't too keen how it looked around the edges when I finished, so Maggie looked for a 'ruffle' pattern that I could add on around all the edges, and this is how it looks now:)

All I need to do now is weave in the ends and sew up the corners which is tonight's task:) As a lot of people have been away we haven't met up for a couple of weeks. So I decided I would try and make a couple of balls for the boys. It's very easy compared to the blanket. Just knit 6 squares, sew them up and stuff them! I just need to knit a few more then find some stuffing and sew them up!
